Hy-Vee Grocery Store Announced As 2015 Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival Event Sponsor

Springfield, Missouri. October 27th, 2014 – The Rotary Clubs of Springfield are proud to announce and recognize employee owned Hy-Vee grocery store as the 2015 Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival event sponsor.  No stranger to charitable giving, Hy-Vee’s autonomous corporate structure fosters a spirit of entrepreneurship that allows stores to custom-tailor their contributions to meet the needs of their communities.

A Rock’n Ribs sponsor since 2012, Hy-Vee will donate 12,000 lbs. of pork butts and rib ends for festival’s 80 BBQ teams to smoke and serve to patrons of next year’s event.  In addition, HyVee will donate 30,000 lbs of ice and serve as one of the festival’s local ticket vendors.

This year’s event will feature a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned BBQ competition, both family and adult activates including live music and entertainers.

Hy-Vee and the Rotary Clubs of Springfield will host the Sixteenth Annual Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival, April 24th and 25th, 2015 at the Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds.  Cost for general admission to the festival is $10 per person and all proceeds will go to seven local children’s charities including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Great Circle, Boy Scouts of America, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Harmony House, Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck, and the YMCA.

A rich history of community patronage to this event has allowed the Rotary Clubs of Springfield to donate $140,000 in 2014 and in total over 1.4 million dollars since its inception in 2000.  The funding provides professionally supported programs and services to disadvantaged and at-risk children in our community.

The Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival is a non-profit organization which provides financial support to “The Children of the Ozarks” with the assistance of community leaders from five Springfield Rotary Clubs.
