Hy-Vee and the Rotary Clubs of Springfield are proud to announce the Sixteenth Annual Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival, April 24th and 25th, 2015 at the Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds.  This year’s event at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds will debut 80 BBQ teams serving the public on both Friday and Saturday.  With $15,000 in cash on the line, BBQ teams throughout the Midwest will compete in our nationally acclaimed, KCBS sanctioned BBQ competition on Saturday.  The event will host a variety of both adult and family entertainment forums including the Kids Zone, Pie Eating contest, Motorcycle show and the Texas Hold’em Charity Poker tournament.  The Ozarks largest outdoor music venue will host a record breaking 23 country and rock musical acts with over 18 hours of live music.  Local favorites Members Only, Mixtapes, and Machine Gun Symphony will be sharing the stage with Candy Coburn, Makenna & Brock, the Mark Chapman Band, and winners of the 33rd Annual Country Showdown – the Brothers Robertson.

Cost for general admission to the festival is $10 per person at the festival gates. Tickets may be pre-purchased for $8 at over 40 Kum & Go locations citywide.

A rich history of community patronage to this event has allowed the Rotary Clubs of Springfield to donate $140,000 in 2014 and in total over 1.4 million dollars since its inception in 2000.  The funding provides professionally supported programs and services to disadvantaged and at-risk children in our community.  All proceeds benefit seven local children’s charities including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Great Circle, Boy Scouts of America, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Harmony House, Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck, and the YMCA.

Hy-Vee Grocery Store Announced As 2015 Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival Event Sponsor

Springfield, Missouri. October 27th, 2014 – The Rotary Clubs of Springfield are proud to announce and recognize employee owned Hy-Vee grocery store as the 2015 Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival event sponsor.  No stranger to charitable giving, Hy-Vee’s autonomous corporate structure fosters a spirit of entrepreneurship that allows stores to custom-tailor their contributions to meet the needs of their communities.

A Rock’n Ribs sponsor since 2012, Hy-Vee will donate 12,000 lbs. of pork butts and rib ends for festival’s 80 BBQ teams to smoke and serve to patrons of next year’s event.  In addition, HyVee will donate 30,000 lbs of ice and serve as one of the festival’s local ticket vendors.

This year’s event will feature a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned BBQ competition, both family and adult activates including live music and entertainers.

2014 Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival

August 12, 2014 (Springfield, MO)…Area Rotary Clubs plan to distribute $140,000, to seven children’s agencies in the Ozarks. This year’s proceeds brings the 15 year grand total to $ 1,447 250 distributed by Rotary’s Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival, to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Great Circle, Boy Scouts of America, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, Harmony House, Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck, and the YMCA.

Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival is presented by the five Rotary Clubs and the Rotaract Club of Springfield. This was the 15th year for the festival. Over 1,000 Rotarians and community volunteers worked on the event May 9th & 10th, 2014. Rock’n Ribs is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event and this year 72 BBQ cooking teams competed for blue ribbon bragging rights. The Rotary Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival has become one of the most popular fundraising events in the area, and one of the most anticipated.

Brett Sheets, Rock’n Ribs Management Chair remarks, “The commitment of 1000’s of volunteers both Rotarians and non-Rotarians amazes me every year. Our community has a strong sense of kindness to help make Rock’ n Ribs a successful charity fundraiser year after year. Preparations are already underway for the 16th Annual Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival to be held on April 24th and 25th of 2014.
